Written for two string quartets and double bass in a symmetrical set-up, this piece is characterised by multiple layers that develop independently towards a serenade in the last third of the piece. All the players are soloists who encounter different groupings, some of them splitting off from the main ensemble in order to play autonomous lines in different tempi.
